Get Low….Hello!

Posted on

So we are right in our 22nd week (5.5 month mark) of pregnancy and I am feeling a little conflicted.  The first thing being that people keep telling me they thought I was but wasn’t sure, when I know dog on well I have been pretty round for at least a month now; like really? Did you think I just swallowed a melon?

Or better yet, just trying to pull this…..

Then there are those that have misconstrued what a comment is and go to tell me with a smile on their face, “oh honey you are starting to waddle”.  Really? REALLY?  You couldn’t come up with anything better than that, like – “your walk is changing” or something???

Might as well just said this….

Anyhoo, I digress, because that actually isn’t the reason why I came to post, but it was fresh on my mind; RANT OVER.

Ranch House Crock Pot Pork Chops (Turkey Chops) W/ Parmesan Mashed Potatoes

Another crockpot recipe….

Yesterday I made this. (I have to say, I can’t take all the credit this time, I had hubby throw the stuff in and flick the switch)

I got it from here.

Mine looked like this…..

It was pretty good.  I used turkey breast cutlets instead, since we don’t eat pork.  Next time around I may add a little chicken broth to make it a little more “saucy” and also some onion and mushrooms (just cause I love them).  I also learned that unlike most recipes, this one does not require additional seasoning.  I normally season my meat before adding ingredients so things are not bland, this one doesn’t need it the soup and packet are seasoning enough!  But overall good recipe; will definitely be put into rotation.

Monday Memories: Cabbage Patch Dolls

I don’t know what recently made me think of these things, but weren’t they something special? (If you were an 80’s baby like me, anyway).

I had about 4 of these things, and you felt all the way official with the little birth certificate that came with them.  I thought I was something pretty special when I got one that had the ore regular doll hair as opposed to the yarn hair that you couldn’t do anything to but twist and braid.

Do little girls these days even really play with dolls anymore?

My Favorite Things: Pregnancy Cravings

Posted on

So today I was sitting here thinking about all the different things that I have been craving in these five months that I been baking up this little turkey (a.k.a. my baby boy) and the cravings can be very impulsive and intense and the list would have us here through the weekend – my husband can vouch.  So here are my top few favs in the past few months.

Salad – I randomly get cravings for salad, which is good, cause I crave sweets a lot too, so this offsets the guilt.

Grilled cheese – these have been a pregnancy favorite and so simple to make.  I toy with the thought of venturing out to make one of those fancy pants grilled cheeses you hear different magazines and so on talk about, but I chicken out every time and just default to what I already know; two slices of bread some butter and some cheese – now that is a grilled cheese!

A vision for our children: I saw my unborn son

I’d like to think as parents we all have some sort of vision for our children, which guide us in how we parent them; goals, aspirations, and all of that. The fact that each child is different in their own way requires us to tailor those thoughts individually for them. Simply a guide not a strict guideline, but rather something to give our parenting style some sort of structure.

I imagine my son will be very dynamic, multi dimensional and if anything to the likes of his dad, a true gentleman. We are both very ambitious, and all over the place (not sure if that is good yet or not, but it’s simply just that). We both dream big, think hard and long, love hard, and so on…I imagine he will gather some of that in his little personality as he grows into a young man.
