I only have one mother, but I have several mother like influences, from my aunts, to some of the more mature women at church.  I appreciate every last one of them!

So I just want to wish you all, birth mother’s or not, a very Happy Mother’s Day!

A date day – without my husband

If you have followed me for any amount of time, you would know that I love the whole pampering thing – massages, manicures, pedicures and all of that!

A girlfriend of mine and I had been planning our “girl date” for the last month.  Coincidentally we picked mother’s day weekend for the day.  What a great early mother’s day present to be afforded time away from home and our motherly responsibilities and to hang out.

We started our day early and met up for 90 minute massages, then did a little shopping since we were already at the mall.

After a little retail therapy, we headed to get pedicures.  The place we went to was not your regular “nail shop” as it was pampering in and of itself.  The service was great, the people were nice, and we sat there and talked like there was nothing else that needed our attention.

After all that, we finished our date day off with what was supposed to be lunch, but turned out to be an early dinner.

If we can put in eight hours a day at a job, we definitely should be able to do the same with a friend every now and again!

A Saturday very well spent!

That I might need bail money!!!

I don’t know what is going on lately, but this little girl turnt tween is “on one” (as my hubby would say).  She has become this argumentative, huffing and puffing, then turn to crying person I feel like I have never met.

Earlier this week, we had a bout in the morning where I got frustrated because I have only been telling her the same things over and over every. single. day. for forever…they are pretty basic:

• Go brush your teeth and get yourself cleaned up before you come talking – even if it’s to say “good morning”
• On school days, get yourself cleaned up and dressed, straighten your space (your room, that only you mess up) gather your things and then head down to have breakfast.
• Don’t talk back (every time I say something you don’t have to match me with a response)

This particular morning she dismissed all three of these!!

The morning started with her waking up early for whatever reason and coming straight into my room.  She proceeded to lean into the babies face and I stopped her asking if she had been to brush yet, which she hadn’t.

She stormed off fussing about how she wasn’t going to get to see her brother before he left and blah blah blah.  Mind you she never wakes up before he leaves, so what the difference was that day, I still don’t know. But….

I dismissed that.

Then I am getting myself together and I notice that her room looks like a tornado ran through stayed a while and then came back.  I called out and asked her what she was doing, to which she replied she was finishing her breakfast.

I told her that her room needed some attention, to which her reply was that she did clean her room.

Are you kidding or did I lose my good sight and have it replaced with messy vision – must have.

So now completely aggravated I go in her room to explain to her what was wrong, including the unmade bed that she claims she did make up, the clothes on the floor, the shoes on the floor, the hunk of junk on her desk, and I didn’t even look in the closet.

Here comes the part that I almost lost my mind….

With everything I said she had something to say back.  I politely told her to close her mouth and listen to what I was saying and she even had a response for that too…

I lost it.

My neighbors probably heard me, cause I yelled so loud I needed a drink of water after.  She cried.  I went in my room and closed the door; aggravated is not a word that can even describe what I felt at that moment.

After all of this, she comes not even ten minutes later and knocks at my door and acts as if nothing has even happened.

I don’t know about you, but this is not how I operate; if you aggravate me without even so much as an apology, then you need to at least let me cool off.

Then she sees something come across the TV and asks can we go do that….

I just don’t get it, when my mother was mad I steered clear.

I’m telling you if she keeps up this huffy puffying, think she can storm around, and talking back habit she has got going on, you will definitely need to bail me out!

So if you are any friend of mind, just start saving now!  This is only the beginning from what I hear….

Any advice for entering these tween years? With a girl?
