Goodtimes, Tanks and Carryout – Father’s Day Awesome!

Posted on

My honey is a simple man – he doesn’t require much; My father has everything and I dread the three holidays out of the year that I have to figure out what to get him.

Lately, I have been really big on not putting so much focus on buying things, but rather spending time and creating memories – those can never be used up, lost, stolen, or discarded.

I mentioned here how excited I was about the surprise I had worked up for my two fellas, and it was GREAT (aside from waking up early)!

We started the morning off with a great church service.  I swear my pastor really has a way of getting the message across.  The sermon topic was “A father with a heart of a warrior”, taken from Nehemiah 4.  I can’t stress enough how much I love my church and my church family – I always leave that place feeling so loved, encouraged and motivated to keep striving to be better in the eyes of God.

These two...love em'

These two...love em' I absolutely love this picture of my husband and dad as we were leaving church.

We passed time for about an hour at a local starbucks and then headed off to the Pier to board the boat.

My gift to my dad and my husband was a lunch cruise aboard Cleveland’s GOODTIME III.  It was a two hour partially narrated trip around Downtown Cleveland via Lake Erie

We had a great time; we being my hubby, parents and younger brother.  I also had the opportunity to get what I hope are some pretty good flicks (I haven’t looked at them yet).  My hubby has even taken an interest in playing around with the camera also which makes me super excited because it creates endless possibilities of what we can capture in terms of memories and even just expressive art.

Hubby and I

After departing the boat, my family left and hubby and I hung out downtown for a little bit to take in all the action at Marine Week 2012 which was hosted right here in my city!!  We left there just in time to miss the rain and head home to relax.

I let my old man (my husband, not my dad, lol) get his nap out; this baby is wearing him out – LOL.  We then ordered take out and enjoyed the game on the couch – the perfect ending to a Great day!

I love that my husband is so low key and it makes it that much more exciting for me to do different things for him.  I love to surprise him, it just lights up my world.

I cant wait for this baby to get here, he is gonna be an AWESOME dad.  He has been a great father to my daughter for the last five years, and I know he loves her as his own.  But even he doesn’t know what as “his own” is really like, and I can’t wait for him to experience it.

I hope you all had a wonderful father’s day, whether your fathers are in your life and living or not.  I hope you took the time to celebrate those special men in your life who are great dads and great examples to the children around them, they truly deserve it.

Later,
