I Woke Up!

These past couple of weeks has warranted me some (well, lots) of discomfort, lack of sleep, aches and pains in places I didn’t know was there and so on. But today I woke up.

Yesterday, I was perusing through my Facebook feed and saw a post from one of the natural hair blogs I follow stating that a fellow blogger and video blogger (Vlogger) had passed away during childbirth. I immediately said a prayer for her family and her newborn baby.

Curiosity then led me to her Facebook page, and although she wasn’t someone that I had heard of, I saw that many people did know and follow her. Her last post was on October 12 and she spoke of how in five weeks she would be on maternity leave. When I did the math, I realized this meant that she was due pretty much the same week that I am.

I didn’t realize it at the moment but I immediately took to a comfort snack and baked me some cookies, and my gears were just grinding thinking about this girl and how she was planning for the arrival of her second child and just counting down the time not knowing that the last few ticks were actually on her clock.

We take for granted that we will make it through childbirth and that we will deliver a healthy baby, AND also have the ability to be here for them and love them. Every moment truly is a gift from God. That baby was indeed a gift and no doubt he will bless the people that are here left behind, but she was used as the vessel to get him here and then her time was up. Her creator called her home to be with him.

I say all this to say that I got up this morning and I was hurting, I tossed and turned all night, I am aching from being uncomfortable even though I slept surrounded by pillows and when I got up I felt like my lady parts are going to fall out and hit the ground, but – I WOKE UP!!!

I just wanted to take this time to thank my God for waking me up this morning, to allow me to feel all my aches and pains and to have another day to love on my loved ones and enjoy my family including this little one that has taken over my body.
