Link Up: Hairogenous

To be heterogeneous is to be unique, diverse and different.  As we are all uniquely created, so is our hair.  The amount of creativity is beyond measure and the variance is just pure genius.  While natural hair seems to be the trend right now, I really believe it is a movement.  A movement in the direction of self acceptance, self love and the appreciation and ownership of our own unique beauty.

That’s not to say that relaxed hair is not all of those things, but there is a certain kind of freedom and love – a real live love affair – that goes along with being a natural girl.

Lets’ link up and have a hair party.  Post a picture of yourself with a favorite hairstyle and details about the style, products used, etc.

Red means GO!!

The warm weather is fast approaching and just as fast as it is coming – my hair is growing.  As usual I am about ready for a change.

I have toyed around with the idea of color for a little while and while I don’t want to admit it, I am scared!

Any of you who have followed me at all know that I am no stranger to changing things ups, but you also know that this is my fourth – Yes FOURTH time going natural.  Unlike all the other times, I have succeeded in passing the finish line once, completing my first lap, in a race that never ends.

I was watching this video from one of my favorite YouTube channels – MyNaturalSistas, Toni, and she has went red again!

This is Toni, and her red hair....aren't they lovely???

Oh how I want hair

The other day I was scrolling through instagram (@MyInnerB – follow me) and I noticed India from MyNaturalSistas, one of my favs, with even bigger hair than normal….To my surprise it was not even her hair.

Apparently there is this new break through in natural hair and protective styling that has solved one of my previous dilemma’s – wanting to wear a weave but matching my natural hair so that I don’t have to manipulate my own hair with heat or excessive product to get the texture to match.

What is it you ask????

First, let me show you

*insert dreamy eyes*

Isn’t this absolutely GORGE???

Well this is a picture of the for Kurls Collection from the Heat Free Hair Movement.  A brand of hair that is designed for the natural girl; one who wants to wear protective styles in the form of weave but without having to heat and potentially damage their own hair for the purposes of blending the hair.

Time for a weekend recap.  Funny to even have one considering just two weeks ago all my weekend really consisted of was regular errands, church and some Sunday dinner.

This is how RJ makes me feel....

But oh how life is changing.  I am coming out of the shell of just being RJ’s 24 hour milk maker and back to being my husband’s wife, Niy’s sometime beautician, a friend that could hang out if my friends called me and a slightly reminiscent form of normal (my new normal).

Friday night my mother in law came over and stayed the night.  This afforded my hubby an I the opportunity to workout together – translated – he becomes a jerk (love you babe!) and tough guy trainer who doesn’t crack a smile, and I ache for a couple days; something that hasn’t happened in over a year.

Nothing much going on but my TWA, finger coils and NuDred

Posted on

In recent times, I haven’t really posted about my hair – because I haven’t been doing anything with it.  Up until last week I was just kind of rocking my TWA.

Then last week, one of my lovely friends came over and twisted me up.  I was ever so thankful, because the TWA was boring me.  While I didn’t get a picture of the twists (and they were HAWT too), I do have a pic of what I looked like when in “twisted-out”.

As usual, that frizzed, so I washed and yesterday another one of my lovely dear friends came over and used her new toy on me.  (I have awesome friends right?)

It’s this thing called NuDred; have you heard of it??  It’s really kind of cool.  The tool is actually a sponge, and you add the moisturizing “potion lotion” as I call it and then you just rub it.  Sounds crazy right?
